The Story Behind Mars Blends Herbal Tea

You might be wondering, Why tea? For me, tea is so much more than a drink. It’s culture, connection, and a ritual that has carried through generations of my family.

Tea has always been at the heart of my family. Growing up, my parents had “tea time” as their sacred ritual—a moment to pause, reconnect, and find comfort in each other amidst the chaos of life. My grandmother, a cornerstone of our family, shared the tradition with all 15 of her grandchildren, lovingly serving us Cha ku Pao (tea and bread) before we even learned to speak. Tea transcends generations in my family, flowing from my great-grandmothers to my grandmothers, to my mother, and now to me. It’s a legacy of love and togetherness.

But as I grew older, tea also became deeply connected to my own journey of self-care and wellness. In 2018, while navigating kidney failure and a lupus diagnosis, my relationship with wellness changed completely. It was one of the most difficult seasons of my life, but it also challenged me to slow down, reconnect with myself, and become more intentional about how I cared for myself. During that time, the simple ritual of preparing tea became deeply meaningful to me. Each cup created a moment of stillness—a reminder to slow down, be present, and pour a little care back into myself.

Now, tea is my daily companion. Its warmth wraps around me like a hug, offering comfort and grounding me in moments of stillness. Mar’s Blends is my way of sharing that solace with you.
